Guys! Try out GDE homescreen cube! AMAZING!!!

Also, on that page, there is a Choose main screen. I set my home up before i realized it wasn't the true home (i hit the home twice and it brings me to a widget page) so I changed my home to screen 2, and now when i hit home while i'm on any screen. it brings me to my home!

Have fun!

Very cool!.. I never knew what that "default home" slider was for.

Very nice!.. that way if you want all your extra screens to be to the right, you just set your home default as screen 1.
If you want your home to be in the middle, you set it to the number thats in the middle of your total screen choice.
I presently have 4 screens and my home default is 3.. so after hitting home on the phone, I have one more screen to the right and two to the left... or how ever you want to look at it.

Dxtop works perfectly in landscape and portrait auto with no adjustment by the user

I havent tried DXtop yet... with all the recent updates I wonder which would be the favorite?

We have to compare most recent editions with most recent to be fair.

Has anybody ran both versions in the last 2 days, and if so whats the pros and cons?

Updated today to the latest version and actually seem to be getting more force closes when docking with the MM Dock. Please fix this. Its a little annoying since I use the dock constantly at home and work.

Hmmm., just another data point..i use the MM Dock at work and home and haven't had any force closes when docking, undocking, or just sitting in the dock.

I also added the Pandora widget back to one of my home screens and am not experiencing the blanking of the home page (no icons, just wallpaper) that I was before.

wow. I <3 this home app... had tried panda and deleted it immediately, this one seems much more intuitive and clear and so far working smoothly on Droid.

<3 !!

thanks y'all will be keeping heads up on this thread for more tips :)

I can't seem to get rid of the application dock (on GDE, which I am really liking. I can move it but when I drag it away it comes back?Anyone else having this problem?

Long press the right edge, move it to trash or a space that is open.

I gotta say I love this homescreen. Its flow is great and gives me room for everything I need plus more. :) Great app!!!!!!

I've actually stopped using GDE temporarily...was getting force-closes and slow responses on loading the home screen, etc.

Still like its design best of the ones I've tried. One thing I realized I don't remember how to do...how do you add a screen to it?

Just to throw my two cents in.

I LOVE it. I followed this thread for a while and finally caved in and bought it for $3.

Here is how i have it setup
- I dont like cube transition... so i use normal
- On bottom i have the phone, applications, and contacts
- I am using the iPhone theme with windows 7 theme background
- I dont like the feature to slide through multiple pages in once.
- I have 4 pages running with the 2nd one as my middle.

I love it!

What wallpaper size should you use for gde?? I have downloaded a couple that I like alot; one has text on it that I want to center on my homescreen. I can't for the life of me make this happen. Anyone have any advice?

I think the best magic number is 960 X 854px

That's what I'm using, and the image that I want centered on the home screen does not/will not *go there* :(

I'm just asking because I don't know.. but does it make a different from what page you created your wallpaper?

If your not on your home page when you created or chose your wallpaper, does that throw it off when your are on your homepage?

Using gde, on the home page....I long press to get to wall papers (actually, installed wall papers go to photos) select the wall paper I want to use. I can either crop/not crop (the square that you can size up to include as much of the wall paper as you can get maximum) I've done it both ways, leaving the "square" alone, and extending the square as much as possible. Either way, after the phone sets the new wallpaper, it is never with the image *centered* on the home screen.

I have been using GDE for about a week. While I love the set buttons at the bottom and the ability to add additional screens- it is not as fast or smooth as the native home for me. I get errors regularly (atleast 6 times a day) where the home screen becomes totally non responsive and the force close or wait option appears. I went back to the built in home today and experienced overall better performance. Hope that some of these bugs get fixed in future releases.

I am NOT that impressed with this program after using it for just over a week.. I like the extra screens.. I like the phone button at the bottom.. Other than that, it is weak..

I get Force Closes a couple times a day.. and some lag every once in a while.. Definitely WAS NOT worth $3 (Relatively speaking; I don't think $3 is a lot of money, but there are a lot of FREE apps "worth" more than this one)..

By the way, for my 'wallpaper' I followed another Droid user by doing this:

Took a photo with the Droid by putting my finger over the lens, thereby getting a BLACK image. (Make sure the flash is off).

Then I set this as a background/wallpaper on the home screens. With the black background all icons very EASY to read. Plus, the black matches the "theme" of the phone (the Droid is ALL BLACK), so, I thinks it looks cool. ..and finally, it will likely prolong battery life as the black screens uses least energy...

I asked the developers about this a few days ago, as I was experiencing this issue as well...it is a known problem they are aware of. If you are using the cube style (can't remember about the other styles they offer). Your image will be cut-off at the center (only show the left or right half of the center at a time).

It is insanely annoying. I hope they fix it soon.

I don't use the cube style, just fade. Well, I'm glad they are aware of it....when they get it fixed, I'll be able to be a *loyal* GDE girlfriend! :p

They said it might not be trivial to fix...I hope they improve stability first - I started having too many problems with it to keep running it on a daily basis, and really want to start using it again! :)

Just curious.... do any of you guys having trouble use "advanced task killer".

Just wondering if its only unstable in the presence of many other running programs.

That might help rule out if its starving for resources or if its compatibility issues.

I have yet to have problems, but I don't let too many things run in the background for no good reason.

GDE in cube mode does show off the Droids abilities, and in doing so it would only make sense that it could struggle if other apps are stealing resources too.

The more efficient GDE becomes the less we will see this.. but that only means that even more sophistication could be integrated into GDE.
