It does not handle incoming calls, nor does the GV app. Someone calls your GV number, it forwards to your cell, you have GV set to show the GV number as the caller id and viola, free call.
Incoming calls do not need any app - just set up GV (using your computer) to ring the Droid's cell number on incoming calls, and have your GV number as a F&F number. Then, if he is correct that Flex Dialer uses that same GV number to make outgoing calls, the one F&F slot set for the GV number covers incoming and outgoing calls. Yippee - that only took all morning to straighten out . . .
Do you know if the free Flex Dialer app works the same way?
Yes it does but the widget is huge with advertising but it would at least give you a chance to try it out.

Not trying to highjack this thread just want to let you know flexdialer has it's problems. I've had flex dialer for some time and the calls do not always go thru. In most cases GV does not accept the call(message says wrong pin number) i've checked and double checked and pin is correct. it takes multiple tries before GV accepts the call and puts you through to your calling party as a free call.
Have yet to figure out what the problem is, maybe it has something to do with the free version of flexdialer. Have not tried the paid version, if i pay for it and it turns out to do the same thing then i'll be pissed.

The commas or pauses can have a big effect on this. Flexdialer will provide the string as entered so if there is a delay in the initial call connecting then the whole string will be off and result in the behavior you described. I personally have GV setup not to require a pin when dilaing from my cell and my settings are A,B,2,C# and it works 100% of the time.
You might try this and see if it helps.
In my brief experiments with Flexdialer Free yesterday, I first had to make sure the default number which GV uses to place a call was my Droid number, not my home number (done on the computer), although that could have been because I was using my home phone as the test number I was dialing. I also found it worked a little better with A,B,P,2,C# as the dialing string.
The number Flexdialer dials should be your GV number (A). The additional P you added could also be accomplished with a comma as both will add a pause. Adding the additional pause will add a small delay in the call processing but also will add more reliability as you are allowing more time for GV to answer before processing the rest of the call string.
I have tried several different combinations on pauses and still get the same error msg. I will try it without the pin and see if it makes any difference.

The sender does send to my GV number and I get charged for an incoming text. I have an old plan ($19/month for 450 minutes) and data plan. I pay .20 for each incoming text from GV. I'm not complaining, just saying some of us do have to pay, one way or another. I could up my plan by $40 bucks to save $7 in text charges but I think not.
If you have a data plan, and if you use the GV app, and if you configure GV to not send texts to your cell number you will not be charged for incoming GV texts to your cell. If you are being charged for texts then one above the above is not true.

Did you check that box? If so, SMS will go to your cell number, thus incurring text charges.
I dont know if it still does it or not but when I first started using the google voice app I noticed that it would change the access number every once in a while. Thats when I started using the flex dial app.
you will need to play with your pauses and commas but I have mine working great. I have the paid version as well and I have no issues with it. It is the best paid app I have. Its widget is much better than the free version (which is stupid) and allows for up to 4 or 5 different numbers. I use 2 and have it set on my front page. It is simply an on off button. My second one I have set up is set to block my number when I make a call. This is handy when you have that annoying person ask to borrow your phone, and then their dumbass friend calls you back later asking where ever who called them is. Just hit the button and it blocks your number before handing them then phone.
Also you have exceptions you can list. For example I use my google voice for business only. I have any contact in my address book that is a friend set to dial out with my normal number even if the google voice dial is set on. That way if Im handling business and happen to need to call a friend they dont get confused by my odd number calling them ect. Its well worth the money.

Yes the box in not checked. I'm not sure why it charges me. I thought maybe they called my cell number, not GV but my cell will not accept a call except thru GV.
Which number do you have to put into the F&F contact list? Obviously, you need to put in the GV number you set up for the outgoing calls, but do you need to also include the pass through number (area code 406 number) to handle the incoming calls as well?
Or is the pass-through a Verizon Wireless number, and therefore a free call?

The access number is a Google number and will need to be added for airtime free outgoing calls.
