Handcent after recent update

so ive noticed that when i shut my phone off and turn it back on after this recent update from handcent sms, i loose the handcent icon and it is replaced with a red x instead. has anyone else had this issue? the only way ive been able to fix it is with a uninstall and then reinstall which is a royal pain in the ass given that i dont restart my phone very often i still have to customize all over again.
 
Yep me too just now and I can't get it to download pics sent to me. Prefered the older version. I just did the update and still same thing.
 
yeah seems to work for me too now. Thanks for letting us know. Nice that the maker is quick to fix things...
 
Glad that it is working. It is realy nice that the dev has so quickly addresed the issue.

So I guess for me, and many others here, is there a reason to update from the first (?) Handcent ap that doesn't have the icon issue? What was included in the update besides the corrupt icon issue? I am not having any issues with handcent that I am aware of at this time.

Here's what's been included in the latest updates. I believe, if you havn't upgraded to the 'buggy icon' edition, you're running 2.9.13 -- so here it is..

Thanks for the detailed post, blampars! It looks like I'm running 2.9.10. I have been afraid to update due to issues mentioned here.
 
anyone else lose their handcent widget with the most recent- looks the same as the icon but has the ability to show number of messages-.

I am using the shortcut now.
 
I think he meant icon.

Anyways, I have downloaded handcent a dozen times since yesterday afternoon and every time I reboot the icon changes to the triangle and the name changes in the android apps window. ??? Anyone know a fix?
 
I just checked the handcent.com site and version 2.9.15 is supposed to be the fix for the hero, but if you download it from the android market it is still the 2.9.14 version. ????
 
What widget are you trying to use for handcent? If I go to widgets, there is not one for handcent, only for "Messages". The onlything I see for handcent is the ability to place the icon on the desktop. Also, I checked again and the version on the market says 2.9.15 but when you download, install it, and check in the program "about" page, it is still 2.9.14 which after rebooting the hero the icon is a triangle. Annoying!

My about page in Handcent shows 2.9.15. The widget is just an icon that shows a counter. It is located in the Android Widget section and is called Handcent Sms. I am not sure why some of you are getting 2.9.14 when you download it. I downloaded mine yesterday of the Market.
 
That is very weird. I have tried numerous times and still shows 2.9.14

Maybe that is why i don't have the widget in the selection also???

It seems that the widget has been removed in the last update. I wonder if they will add it back.
 
I don't know if it's fixed now or I just got lucky but I downloaded it again and it is now truly 2.9.15

Im now going to reboot to find out if it works correctly.
 
and...BAD NEWS!!! After a quick reboot, the program icon went to a triangle and the about now shows 2.9.14 again??????
