Handcent/factory SMS question

I know this has been asked before but my problem is a little different. I have had Handcent since i bought my DINC. I recently stopped receiving video messages so i uninstalled Handcent and reinstalled it. Fixed that issue.

Now I am having another issue. I cant get the factory messenger to stop working. I recieve SMS through factory messaging and handcent. I know the technical way to fix it is to go to stock messenger and disable it. Thing is, i have done that and keep getting both notifications still. Any help at all??

I have rebooted, pulled the battery and uninstall/install 2 more times and still the ****ing stock messenger wont quit popping up!

Is your phone rooted? Cause if it is, you can 'freeze' it with Titanium Backup. Another thing that could be causing it to continue doing this is if you are using a different launcher other than the stock one.

If you are rooted it is simple...freeze your stock launcher so that the apps working with it won't come on.

If not, then switch to your stock launcher and disable your stock messenger and then switch back to whatever other launcher you are using is.

Thanks, i will try switching from LP+ to stock sense UI....


How do i switch launchers? Im going to try and figure it out but in case i dont maybe the answer will be waiting on me lol!
 
I dont see the factory browser in there? Im currently running LP+ as my current browser. I need to go back to factory browser. How do i do that?

LP isn't a browser. It's a launcher. Click on the little icon with all the dots in the middle of your dock at the bottom of your homescreen. It will take you to all your Apps.

Look and see if you have one that says Canvas. If you do, click on it. When you get a popup asking what application you want to perform the operation, select that one. Also, check make default or it will default back to LP.

What phone do you have? Yours might be called something else other than Canvas.
 
HTC Incredible, i have looked in the app drawer and seen nothing about my factory home launcher, sorry called it a browser lol. Anyway, i dont see a way to switch to factory sense UI
 
Ok, i started there and they couldnt help me...So i came here where more people frequent. You told me a solution so i hadnt went back there and posted i case you could help me. Thanks for the help.....

Ask them what your stock launcher is called.

Then follow the procedure I outlined for you and see if it helps you.
 
Yea, its not in my app drawer though. I just downloaded home switcher and switched back to sense and cleared the notifications and then switched back to LP+ and still doing same thing! Getting irritated lol

Did you disable your stock messager? Also, try rebooting now that you just did what you did and see if that helps.

Another thing....clear your cache.

Clear your cache and reboot.
 
ughhhhhh still same thing. I love handcent but cant stand having both messengers. Guess im gonna have to go back to sense messenger....
 
I will try it but more seems like my factory messenger is the problem than handcent. If it continues to display along with whatever i download then screw it lol

If you're talking about double notifications, one from handcent and one from the htc default sms app, that is a known problem, and in some cases is not solvable. I used handcent for a long time, and then it started with the double notifications. If you do a search, you'll see it happens a lot. I really liked handcent, but solved the problem by replacing it with chompsms, and like it just as well - no problems at all.
