Help Handcent + Google Voice = Free SMS?

If you have Google Voice, you can use the People app or HTC SMS widget to send free sms message.

Is this possible with Handcent?

I believe Handcent doesn't integrate with Google Voice messaging yet.

For that matter, are you sure that the built-in messaging apps also work with Google Voice messaging? So far I've only been able to send and receive Google Voice SMS messages using the Voice app itself.

Yes, there's a thread somewhere in this forum showing how to do it. Briefly, the Message App won't integrate, but the People App will give you an option to send sms through GVoice or through your phone messaging system.
