Help Handcent Pics

I checked the settings. Have an update installed but I do not get any pics people send me through Handcent. Love the way it runs, But I gotta get my pics! Am I doing something wrong to not get them?
 
Are you unable to get them from ANYONE? or is it just particular people? Particular file sizes? Try having someone take a picture on low resolution and send it, see if that comes through. You mentioned you already checked your settings, for MMS and such. You could also try uninstalling Handcent and reinstalling it. Also, can you recieve them through the stock messaging app, or no?
 
I had my girlfriend try to send one with her Fascinate. Nothing. I had my mother try to send me one with her..flip granny phone. Nothing. ( i know that is a low res pic)Through stock I was getting them. I froze it in Titanium because I was getting two of the same messages after installing handcent. I can send pics and It always says resizing before I send them. I would think that other peoples phone would resize too?

Even if not. The phone can take 8 mb pics. Should be able to get anything anyone sent to me..
 
Hmm...I use goSMS myself, and haven't ever used Handcent, so I can't really speak to whatever settings may be affecting it. Hopefully someone else might have some insight, as to what might be hanging it up. I know I've had issues sending a full 8 MB pic to another upper phone (Droid X at the time). I don't know if he had any incoming file size limits set in anything, but I had to make sure I always sent him a low res picture instead. I would say make sure you don't have a small "Maximum Message Size" set in the stock messaging app, but you said the flip was having issues too. The minumum size in the stock settings is 200k, so I doubt they were over THAT, so..I'm at a loss atm.

EDIT: One more thought, does it give you any thumbnails or anything? I know when I have low service, sometimes it won't download on mine, and it gives me a "download" button to click, though it generally takes better service to download.

Which does remind me, just for kicks, double-check the Stock Messaging App settings, just to make sure nothing jumps out at ya (if you haven't already)
 
Thanks for giving this a shot. It seems like the issues I run in to are never easily figured out. lol

I uninstalled it and used the stock messaging service. Pics came in fine. Re installed Handcent and left on stock. I received pics ( Twice)

Froze stock and left handcent by itself. NO pics came in.

So there is something effecting the phone when I freeze stock..

I dont want duplicated though. So I guess I have to ditch Handcent. Someone needs to fix it. For thunderbolt, at least.
 
That's strange. My wife and I both have Handcent on Thunderbolts and we get pics.
 
I use go sms pro now because of this. I went through three phones thinking it was the phone and not handcent, its unfortunate cause I loved handcent :(
 
I am definitely no expert, and this is actually my FIRST attempt at GIVING advice on this forum, but I think I may be able to help. You said the problem arises after you freeze the stock messaging app, and you also said that you froze it in the first place because of the "double notification issue." You don't need to freeze the stock app to put an end to the double notification problem..unfreeze the messaging app, hit menu, settings, and uncheck the "Recieved Notifcation" box. This disables the messaging app notifying you of a message. Then you should only be receiving notifications from Handcent.
 
Your situation stinks and I'm sorry I have no real fix, but I can attest to gosmspro being absolutely awesome and it gives me next to no issues...and when a small one occurs, it seems to be updated within a day. They are really on top of it and both my wife and I swear by it.
 
I forgot he was freezing the stock app, either way I'm unrooted so I can't do that and handcent still gives me "generic network failure" for mms
