Help Handcent problem

How do i send a text to someone not in my contacts? If i click on the bit where i add a contact it will only bring up my contacts on my list. No option for just a number?

Can't you just type the number in?

Click on 'new message' icon in top left corner and then the 'to' space should be at top, touch that and the key board/number pad should come up

No matter how many times i pressed that box it never brought anything up earlier. Now it does! Thanks
