Root Handset won't boot - help please!

Hello
I am a new user and please help me!
I have a Htc desire, with root done, and now my phone is dead, on the home screen it shows only a text "android", i can not start it!
Please somebody can help me, what should i do?
If it is a problem with the soft, also please show me the steps i need to do to make it work.

did you try to instal anything before this happened, ,turn it off then holdi down power and volume down to get into recovery , then see if there are and backups on there .

And if there are no backups in recovery, just flash it with another ROM.
