Help Handwriting mode?

There used to be a button left of the space bar which, if tapped, made the keyboard switch to handwriting mode. I recently installed -and then removed- Go keyboard and now the button changed and doesn't switch to handwriting mode but instead shows the clipboard. How can I change it back so that it switches to handwriting mode again?
[eta] Never mind, I solved it. I had enabled a second language and when unabled it handwriting mode came back. Problem solved.

How do you get it out of handwriting mode and back to the keyboard? I don't know how I got it into handwriting mode to begin with.
