Root Hard Bricked, Farewell

Lol i think in tech slang he meant
Soft Brick

I call it Pucked
Cause i throw it out in the street and the kids play hockey with it.

What I was getting at was that brick gets tossed around too often. You'll see people get into a boot loop and say they're bricked. If the phone does anything it really isn't a brick. If you can recover it, it wasn't bricked.

"Soft brick" is still a misnomer, as the phone isn't even close to bricked.;)

Lol
I know what yet getting at.
I am think i may be aware of what Bricked means
I would says its bricked when it basically has absolutley no value as an electronuc device other then a nice little spot to store a perfectly good battery
Maybe if your lucky you may get some sorta light show.
But i am not the one saying i fixed a brick.
But as far as softbrick
I dont speak ebonics, chat or jive so next time i will keep quiet .

By intentionally bricking my phone, i meant deleting the bootloaders and gpt from the phone itselfafter which you get the famous qhusb_dload. I'm new here but i am very well aware of what is known as soft brick. And to play around, i flashed lw770 over ms770 and jumped back. Also bricked lucid and viper in my way to find something new and recovered later on. Since i can unbrick the motion now, i will be willing to test things out.

Ohh and for the guy who was asking how i did so, JTAG!

I thought Softbrick meant only jtag or IV driplines could fix it
But anyways i dont care anymore You guys argue amongst yourselves now
If my phone is broke it can be fixed or it cant
And the the thread poster is aparently stating Dr.Frankenstein cant fix his phone

would you be able to post a pic of the JTAG points for the Motion ?

are you using RIFF Box or something ?

I would not be able to fix qfuses with JTAG, but this information would probably help someone, and it is interesting

A qfuse blown atrix isnt accessible via jtag but this isnt necessary for every phone. I do not know what value triggers the qfuse, i'm trying to find uart pads on the phone so that i can get a log of booting process directly from msm8960 soc, that might be helpful for someone. I'm not willing to share the pinouts since it takes alot of time to analyze the exact locations. I have previously posted pinouts for evo 4g lte, some jtag box team used them and added support to thr product.

So what you are saying, is that you took the time to analyses where the JTAG points are on the Motion, and you have successfully JTAGed the Motion, and un-bricked it at some point in time. You do not want to share where the JTAG points are even though it may help some people, or may allow someone to start a JTAG de-bricking service.

Yea, and charge like 30-60$ per phone for the debrick service. I have contributed few models like evo 4g lte and lg optimus g to the riff team and i havent got any credits for them. Thats the only reason i'm not willing to post publicly.

Also...I'm gonna just call BS on the whole thing anyways...I don't believe the dude and I don't think anyone should trust him to "unbrick" their device...

Proof of concept is needed at least...or possibly pictures of your rig with censors over the points...but then again...a person who would have done this would have posted pictures anyway

I posted abt the jtag unbrick just to let you know thr is the possibility of jtag unbricking this phone. Now if someone is willing to unbrick, they need to do it on thr own. I dint took any pictures or the jtag assembled phone as i dint even knew that i had to post them to prove anything. I have took several pictures of the optimus g since it requires very minute soldering work to be done and so uploaded them to my dropbox,

Well I have never opened up my Motion, so I am not sure if there are JTAG pads already available or you have to tie onto resistors and such.

I do not think that too many people brick their Motions so bad that they need to be fixed with JTAG, but there have been a few.

I am pretty sure a lot of the people in this forum do not know what JTAG is, or have never used one before.

It has been a while for me, and I do not have an "EJTAG" that would work with the ARM processors in most phones.

I may get one in the future, but it is not high on my list of things to do.

Maybe you can start your own de-brick service, I would have to say 50 or 60 may be a little high for the Motiob, but it really depends on how long it takes to take the Phone apart, connect / solder to the JTAG points, re-write the NAND, and put it back together. That could possible take 2 to 3 hours depending on the phone, and there are a lot of risks of possibly screwing some thing up like a flexy cable or something. So for a more expensie phone like an S3 or S4, I could see charging 50 for JTAG un-brick

I knw that the cost depends on the nature of the work being done, but 30$ is the least charges i m aware of. I cannot offer the service since i do not reside in US, i mostly do jtag since i brick alot of devices :ashamed:

The jtag pads are already available on almost all phones. For motion, they are right below the esn sticker, peel it off and you will see the jtag pads.

Schematics? Lol, i should have searched for them and saved alot of time. Will try to grab a copy later on and see if they have any info on uart. Thanks for posting about the schematics.

P.S. it only costs $15.90 to have the Corp store replace it ;)

OK so it cost me $66.80 to have this replaced

First off they would not even consider replacing it because it was not activated, so I had to activate it for $35.00

They told me I could replace for $15.90, but I would have to wait 5 days, and then come back to the store, they would not ship.

I had the option to pay $31.80 and they would replace there and now.

Considering this store is quite a drive to a crappy neighborhood, and visiting this store is comparable to going to the DMV, I chose to pay the $31.80

So that is $66.80 and 2 hours of my time down the drain for a phone that I really do not need, and just use for my Android Development hobby/addiction.

Yes, it is my fault for messing with the qfuses, I know that.

On the bright side I now have an activated Motion, and may be able to test some CM10 / RIL/ Baseband /4G / LTE stuff, when I have the time, but I am probably going to cancel the line when the month is almost up.

How much did you get in donationd. Pm me

How much did you get in donationd. Pm me

I have only received a donation from Johny Crapple back in January

I refunded it to him, because I was not going to be able to spend much time on the phone anymore.

Other than that 0

I really do not want anyone making big donations to me, because then I will feel that I am obligated to produce something.

If people want to make 5 or 10 dollar dontations, that is cool.

Like I said, it is my fault that the phone was bricked, I was playing with some very dangerous things, so I do not expect anything from anyone here.

I do not do this stuff for donations, it is more of an addiction.

Can't believe you guys are still talking about jtag pinouts. Yes the pin outs are real they are on the phone no sodderring its required if you have the right equipment. You will need to confirm locations, but this topic was covered and pinouts have been confermed before
