Help Hard drop...settings reset?

I dropped my phone the other day, battery cage popped off, battery flew out, no cracked screen though.
Once I booted the Evo back up, all my settings were reset.
My pattern lock was gone, my keyboard went back to default, my background changed... and im sure a few other things that I havent touched on had changed.

Anyone experience this before?

It's not like a huge deal to me, but just odd.

I have had this happen once on a battery pull while the phone was fully booted (I assume this was the case for you as well). I had recently installed a new ROM, so I assumed at the time that it was just the quirks of the specific rom. I guess that may not have been the case!

I have had this happen to me when my phone completely ran out of battery. After charging it up and turning it on, my system was reverted to factory default.

From my understanding, if a critical process is interrupted while running/updating in the background, your phones safest recovery method is to factory reset rather than being unbootable.

Or, could be a fluke.
