Help Hard Reset or Software Update?

I powered off my Nexus. Then held down the volume down button and the Power button. No other prompts came up and it immediately went into a screen that said Downloading Do not turn off target (see attached). It has been stuck that way for over 1/2 hour. Any ideas?

That will happen if you hit the power and volume buttons at the same time. Hit the back key or pull the battery.

Second that - just pull the battery.
