Connected the battery to my nexus 7 and tried to put this silver cover back on the mother board and sparks came from the location. Did this damage anything?

I deleted the pics from my phone, but it was the silver cover next to the Lcd cable that had some black tape over it.

Have you tried putting it back on? Do the sparks still occur?

Yes I got it back on, but idk if the sparks messed anything up.

Well if you don't know (took me a while to decipher "idk"!) then we certainly don't ;-)

Test everything; if it all works then nothing is broken despite the sparks. Simple as that

There are some applications that test the amps that are coming out of the device when charging, you could see if this is the correct amount or not.

Do you know of a charge current app that works on the n7 mate? I couldn't find one :thumbup:

Try Battery Charging and Source Current. Works on mine. BTW, highest current I've seen was around 720ma.

Thanks mate but doesn't work for me. Gives me "Unknown charge source" "Unknown current"

It may be your kernel. I've had that problem with a few custom kernels. I know it works on the stock kennel, cm, and the built in kernel on slimkat and liquid smooth.
