Help Hardware keyboard and auto-replace

pcaustin

Lurker
When using the hardware keyboard, the stock software already capitalizes stuff, replaces "il" with "I'll" etc. (I'm on stock firware on a G2.)

Is there a way to edit those replacement rules? I can't find one.

Can a downloadable keyboard affect how the hardware-keyboard acts?

You can edit the user dictionary, and you can add words. The annoying thing is if you add a word in the beginning of your sentence it'll save the auto caps. All keyboard replacements besides Swype do that.

Well, thanks, but that doesn't seem related to auto-replace. Sure, I am able to add words to the dictionary, but that doesn't setup a translation. I tried adding "I'd" to my dictionary but it still doesn't replace "id" with "I'd".

You can download Smart Keyboard Pro, it let's you have auto-text the same way a Blackberry does. I have set certain key entries to change to different words. You can make "id" an antotext entry, and have it automatically change it to "I'd" if you wish.
