Root Hardware/Software Issue.

I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong thread, I didn't know where else to put it. So I just got a new EVO 4G and like my last I was looking into rooting it. So I looked up some newer methods.
I decided to to with the tacoroot method, if you sent familiar with it it can be easily found on google, anyways. I was going through the process and was almost done with the last final steps when all of a sudden my phone just went strait to the Sprint logo screen and keept looping on the same screen over and over. I figured I could just pull the battery and start over again, this was not the case.
When I attemted to reboot, same thing occured. So I had no choice but to wipe cache in stock recovery and wipe all data.
After the wipe I was relieved that the phone booted back up but there were severe issues with the phone for example:
The phone will no longer show the connect to pc notification when connected via USB, will only charge if plugged in then rebooted or off and charging, charges as if it is connected via USB even when charging via ac charger, will no longer recognize the SD card, seems like the internet connection is significantly slower all the time, significantly worse on battery life (full battery +surf web for 20 minutes = half dead battery). And other minor issues I can't think of but those are the worst.

So my question is has anyone ever heard or experienced anything like this and can anyone offer any input as to what I should do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any details you would like to know I will try to answer to the best if my knowledge.

Hey there and Welcome to the AF!
Do you remember what step you were on when it started to loop? Were you following the guide on this forum?
I assume you are still on the stock rom?
Can you post everything listed in your bootloader screen? And what software version you are on 4.xxx or 5.xxx
This will get moved to the "All things Root" forum soon.;)

Hboot 2.18
Radio 2.15
Software 5.07

I was on step 12 on the guide on this site entering the command involving the mtd-eng.img. the loop occurred before I entered that command. I would have tried the undo command but I cannot get it to connect to the pc or read the SD card.

Also the phone is useable just a lot worse than it was before I don't really want to get it replaced because I just did that not too long ago.

ok i understand that but once you enter the
Code:
adb shell /data/local/tacoroot.sh --root
your phone will be unstable and might even bootloop. however, you can still enter the commands in the command window.

if you want your phone stable again then skip down to step 13 and enter this command:
Code:
adb shell /data/local/tacoroot.sh --undo

now your phone should be stable again. and you can start over.

Right that's what I thought also but when I hit the enter button it said specified path not located or something of that nature, I tried to do it again when I managed to get the phone to come bavk on and it would say device not found.

just to make sure you are in the correct path, right? it should be in the android folder where you have the adb files.

if it is then lets try and see if adb is recognizing your device. enter this command:
Code:
adb device
and see if your phone pops up. obviously make sure that it is connected via usb.

if it does not list your device then that is a problem.

just had a thought did you enter
Code:
adb shell

before trying the undo command? you will need to be in adb shell in order for that command to work.

edit: i forgot to add an (s) to the command. it needs to be:
Code:
adb devices

As I thought error trying to run and shell checked device list anyways, empty. It appears to me that it somehow the phone won't recognize that its connected. Just a note: I had to plug the phone in via USB and the reboot it to make the led light come on. Otherwise it acts as if there is no cord connected.

And yes I was using the Android folder. Has the correct files. For what its worth this was my third EVO 4G and for some reason sprint never sends me a battery so I still had the original battery from the first one. When i first got this new one it would seem to shut off and boot loop sometimes or just reboot it self other times but the battery was always hot so I figured it was because it was too hot or something.

Perhaps try a different cord or a different usb port.

How old is the battery?. Depending on how old it is, and being in 3 phones already, and getting hot too many times, it may be time for a fresh battery.

I did at duration think it was the cord tried a different on then a different port. No luck.

The battery is at least a year probably older It was used fairly heavily on the previous phone though i thought i would worry about root first battery second. I regret that decision now but I will get a new one soon and see if there is any improvement if the functionality. Seeing as I did a factory reset after the loop I figured anything the tacoroot did to it would be erased but I'm not too sure if that further damaged it or not.

o.k...what is the current state of your phone now? functioning?

As of right now everything works except what I have listed. Calling, text, data all work have not checked WiFi or Bluetooth but it seems most of the issues are associated with the charger/USB slot.
