Has any one gotten a refurb or new phone cuz of the bugs?

I just got off the phone with Verizon and they are sending a new one.

My phone would random restart; screen would go dark on a call and I would either have to hit the end key or pull the battery to have the phone work again; occasional silent call; ringer stopping when phone moved but box in settings was unchecked; phone not locking and random programs opening up on their own. A text alert sounded while I was on the phone with Verizon this morning and on it's own, my phone opened up voice search and searched for adjectives. This was all while sitting on my desk - I watched it happen. bizarre!
The Verizon people were very pleasant and offered me a new phone right away since I had already done a factory reset after the OTA. I had already cleared the cache too and that did not stop the issues other than weather. Thanks to forum I knew what to try before calling. :)

Thanks to all on this forum! I have learned a lot lurking and figured I would post and offer my replacement phone experience.

i got my first new phone because the USB trackball issue.
I got my second because when I would call people that phone would sound like someone was rubbing sand paper on the mic.
I might need a 4th phone because i might have another usb trackball issue

good to hear! will you be keeping 1.5 on it? has it been asking you take the ota?

my replacement comes tomorrow. just want to know what ill be dealing with ;)

Mine came with 1.5 and notified me immediately that a system update was available. I ignored the notification and rooted with no troubles whatsoever. Now my only problem is deciding which ROM to go with.
I got the refurb because I was having the trackball problem.

I got a replacement about a week ago.

I called customer service the Wednesday before last, explained the silent call bug, and explained the steps I had taken to troubleshoot (hard reset, no apps). They sent a replacement out 2-day FedEx (with 1.5 on it), and the replacement has worked correctly for 9 days so far... *still crossing my fingers*

Should get my replacement by Wednesday for the same reason. Nestor, keep us informed when you get the ota and if silent bug returns after the update. (I'm assuming you'll accept the update.)

thanks!

Oh, I got the OTA almost immediately (Friday 5/14) and haven't had the silent call bug yet. Knock on wood.

I should have my replacement tomorrow. All of a sudden I've had a bunch of issues pop up in the last couple of days. I'm running the v3 leak and have been for weeks, not sure why things just now started going wrong...

-So far today I've gotten 2 voicemails when the phone never rang in the first place - no missed call notifications.
-Cannot connect to HTC sync. I've tried rebooting the phone & the pc, removing and reinstalling the SW and no dice.
-I called Verizon and they asked me to do the *228 send update.. I hit phone button then the * button, then the dialer erased the * and only captured the 228. Tried it again, it's missing the 1st number I dial no matter what I dial.
-plus a few other dialer issues.

I hope the new/refurb unit I receive works well. My question is: if it shows up with 1.5 is there any reason to stay on it instead of upgrading to 2.1 with the OTA I should receive?

I just got my "new" replacement phone today after spending the last 2 weeks annoyed with the silent bug. It gradually got worse, going from once a week, to once a day. I got fed up with it. The guy didn't ask many questions and gave me a new one. I've had it for about 2 hours now, so can't say if I have any bugs yet.

My question is now, I'm not sure what the 50% signal bug was or if I had it or still have it. Also, what was the airplane mode fix for this?

Finally! someone else with a random V3 bailing on them. My Leak V3 was flawless until 3 days ago. LAG has now taken over my phone, the dialer is ok (given the history is cleared) but when texting with handcent OR messages my screen will freeze for 20-40 seconds. Then after it unfreezes, the text icon will revert to the beginning of my sentence or mid sentence.....UNBELIEVABLY frustrating. This happens w/creating new messages and is even worse when receiving messages.

The silent call issue comes and goes. I wan't to personally show a Verizon rep but I know with luck my phone will work properly in the store ha.

Anyways I called Verizon, cannot wait to root and overclock my new Eris ASAP.

Took my daughter's phone into the Verizon store for the screen/curser sliding left. They verified that it was doing that and replaced it on the spot. Funny thing is I asked if that new phone was on 2.1 and he didn't know anything about the upgrade that was in process of OTA that week. The phone got the OTA three days later.

If you have a hardware related issue that was of no fault of your own (i.e. the silent phone bug), then you are covered under warranty.

You do not need to use insurance unless you cracked the screen, lost the phone, or dropped it in water....things like that.

Got a BRAND NEW phone yesterday (at a VZW store) due to dailer issue and short ring time before switching to vmail...

Actually, technically, I got two new phones...the first one the earpiece had a horrible buzz to it so I immediately said I wanted a different replacement. So thankfully she had two phones for swap outs...

The tech said it was too early to have refurb phones...ROTFL...I about laughed at her when she said that!

Now why can't I get that kind of ignorance when I need it? :D

My replacement "like new" phone came yesterday. Unfortunately, texting is very slow on it. Everything else SEEMS perfect. I got it because I had the silent call issue, plus the phone kept crashing to where I'd have to restart it, and the alarms/ringers were silent.

My replacement came with the upgrade uninstalled (had to do that last night). Btw...I don't have the insurance on the phone but it was covered under the 1yr manufacturers warranty. Took it into the store and they didn't even look at it, they just told me to call Verizon to swap it out.

I have a question for someone that may know. I did several searches and didn't find anything.

What happens to all the leak phones that are now being returned ? Does Verizon have a way to refurb them or do they just replace the ROM? Just curious if there is anything that they can do to wipe them to get the OTA 2.1 on them since now we are seeing that some refurb shipments have the 2.1 on them?

I got a "certified like new" replacement last saturday because of touch screen issues. The bottom left side of the screen was not responsive. I was running the 1st leak and luckily they did not notice. I got the OTA notification as soon as I turned on the "new" phone.

Good question. I was told they have a way to re-flash leaked back 1.5... but who knows if they actually do that.. when phones are sent in, it is for a reason, like touch screen issues, or the silent bug, so they have to fix that so let's just hope they are bringing them back to 1.5... But who knows, now that 2.1 is officially out I think alot more people who are getting refurbs are gunna be seeing leaked 2.1s pop up because they figure it's 2.1 who will notice.

Well I added to the leaked refurb stock yesterday...the VZW store tried to fix my dialer issue by reflashing the OTA...lol they never could. But all the sudden the tech handed me my original phone back and said she had successfully reflashed OTA 2.1...but come to find out it was still the leak and I still had dialer problems...So, I wouldn't put it past VZW to fix the hardware issue on the returned phone and just reship it out with 2.1 leak...

I suspect you'd need to talk to HTC instead, since they have a one year warranty for the phone. Verizon only warrants its own customers' phones, I'm sure.

Spent 10 days since the OTA dealing with the silent bug. Finally had free time & called the local Verizon store. Just had to bring it in so they could tell I still had the phone in good condition & they ordered the new one. Should be here Friday.

They told me they aren't shipping "new" phones & they aren't really refurb, they are phones that didn't pass the original testing, so got new components and now are ready.

We'll see.
