has anybody unrooted their desire with a 0.80 bootloader?

has anybody unrooted their desire with a 0.80 bootloader? and if so what ruu did you use? i have tried many diffrent ones i continue to get error 131 (wrong ruu) or error 140 (wrong bootloader version)
my phone is on vodafone

I used the official 1.21.xxxxx ROM (can't remember exactly) - found it at xda-developers.

however my phone is unbranded so I don't know if that would work
