Has anyone got a Hudl yet?

Seem to be out of stock everywhere. Are they that popular or are Tesco manufacturing a 'shortage' to get people panic buying?

I've seen a few posts around the forums, but as it's only available in the UK, I'm not sure if we'd see that many around here any way.

Are you looking to get one? My wee boy has asked for a tablet for Christmas and I'm thinking this or the Argos tab would be a good choice.

I bought one the first day they came out - seems fine; build quality is good; performance is fine. Looking at the reviews, I'd say it was a better buy than the Argos tablet.

If you want to get picky, the only issues I have are:
1) Wifi not connecting after sleep (unless set to wifi always on)... suspect this is an Android rather than Hudl problem though.
2) shame that the power USB is on the bottom edge (when using the cover as a stand)

What I don't understand when reading the reviews comparing the Argos Tablet / Hudl / Nexus 7 is that the reviewers find nothing wrong with the performance of the Hudl vs Nexus (Ok so it is has a less powerful processor and may be slightly chunkier) yet the Hudl is seen as "something to buy for the kids". I agree that if I'd gone for the blue one it would have looked a bit like a toy - but black looks fine.... so really it represents a great value tablet at nearly half the price of the Nexus. Argos on the other hand gets reviewed as "cheap and nasty".

I've tried to avoid downloading pile of games (to easy to waste hours by playing!) However.... Had no trouble coping with angry birds star wars. I've also used it a bit for streaming video with no trouble at all

Well that's a good start, the damn thing doesn't work.
Switched it on, battery light flashed and it turned back off and it is now completely dead.

Well I did finally get mine working after pressing the reset button. It is actually pretty good so I have bought another for my eldest.

OK a bit of advice for people here.

Whatever you do DON'T order Tesco Boost vouchers from the Boost website to use on Tesco.com. If you do then they can only be used on the groceries website and even if the Hudl is shown as in stock it's no guarantee that you will get one. As they come into stock they will be sold to shop customers and you will only get one if there are any left.

It's much better to order it from Tesco Direct, when you do that you can use your ordinary Clubcard vouchers at the checkout and they then double up automagically. You then have a confirmed order and they will be dispatched in turn as they come into stock.

Once you have the Boost vouchers you are stuck with them, they will refund them but the points won't show up to be used until next February.

What a nightmare.

Perfectly timed, mine arrived last week. Mrs Presidente went in to labour the same day so I've not really had much of a chance to play with it till now.

So far, I'm pretty impressed. The screen is nice, sound quality is good and I'm very impressed with the build quality.

It's run most of the Sonic games I've tried (believe me, it would be a big issue for the wee man if it didn't) and I've only noticed slow down when apps etc are updating from the Play Store.

I'm quite pleased with the selection of kids TV via Blinkbox as well, do folks know if the 75% off films voucher apply just to films, or TV shows as well?

Well,we finally got one yesterday by ordering another from Tesco Direct and paying full price for it. I can't believe how bad the Tesco shopping experience was though, when I've finished writing my snot-o-gram I'll post a copy here. So far I haven't used it much Debs has been playing Candy Crush virtually non stop :)

Dear Sir

Having seen the Hudl advertised, and with the Boost promotion bringing the price down, we decided to order one. On Tesco.com I followed a link to the Boost website and that is where the problems began. According to the website we had to choose whether we wanted Boost vouchers for tesco.com/groceries or Tesco Direct. I checked that the Hudl was available on tesco.com/groceries and chose that option. What I didn

How's the graphics quality? If I wanted to play high spec games like modern combat 4 and ravensword, how will they fare?

Thanks in advance.
