Help Has anyone gotten a people widget to work perfectly on their Optimus V?

I've had SO much trouble getting this app to work on my Optimus. The one that I am downloading off the market is people widget by mjdev. I believe this is the app that my friend (who is using a Droid Incredible) has. It is a vertical 2x4 (a column with one picture per row). The problem I am having is that I cannot add the contacts and their pictures to the widget. It just shows a blank transparent block.

There is another people widget somewhere on the market (I forgot the name) but it is a really funky layout so don't include this as an option for me. Can anyone help me with the mjdev app?

I just remembered that the other people widget was a part of Launcher Pro widgets. Any leads?

Elixir can make a shortcut to direct message, call, or email a contact, and it displays their photo. However, they are really small icons and the widget isnt scrollabe. This is as close as I can get, and I have the paid version of launcher pro. None of the contacts widgets properly display pics for me.

That's too bad there are such few options, both of which just suck! I hope there is some sort of update for us Optimus users. I've exhaustively searched on google for other alternatives, but they always end up leading nowhere.
