Has anyone of these rumored release dates come from Verizon?

I was thinking this earlier tonight; If Verizon themselves hasn't given a firm date then we really shouldn't be blaming them since it's not really "delayed" We should really be pissed off at BB etc... for these rumored release dates etc...

I agree that I wish Verizon would just come out and say when the phone will be released. It's not exactly a big secret that it's on it's way.

Thoughts?
 
there is no way best buy came up with a date (the original feb. 14) out of thin air. SOMEBODY gave them the OK to start pre-orders. while verizon never "officially" announced a release date, it is pretty clear that we are well past their "target" release date at this point.
 
I would say nationally thousands of Verizon employees stated 2/24 was the day. This whole thing this puts a black eye them as reps, Best Buy as a whole plus all the money spent on marketing blew up in their face. If I where Best Buy CEO i would request reimbursement compensation for all expenses regarding market material.
 
At one point, the Verizon store salesman told me the 24th, but he did qualify that by saying that it has been pushed back once and it could be again. While Verizon has not put any date out there as being firm, they have suggested the possibility of certain dates.

As of yesterday though, our Verizon store has been pretty adamant about saying that the release date is unknown. It sounded to me as though something came down from above that this was the official company line and they did not want their employees furthering any rumors. It just seemed odd that the same employee went from suggesting a possible date to firmly saying that the date is unknown.

Either way, at some point when talking to the Verizon store employees this phone seemed to be destined to be released any day. Then suddenly that changed to an unknown date. To me, that seems like an unforseen error during final testing. Perhaps the 'can you hear me now' guy finally didn't get a response after 15 years of asking the same question every 10 seconds.
 
I only began calling stores starting yesterday. The Best Buy in my area wouldn't give a firm date only stating that it's been pushed back. And both times I've called the large Verizon store downtown today and yesterday the guy did NOT hesitate to say Feb. 28th.
 
Here's what irritates me about Verizon, they're always the last to the party. They always get phones that other carriers have had for awhile. They're last to the 4G party. Yes I know they claim that their competitors use inferior 4G networks, which is what most competitors say about their competition. Verizon always seems to get a phone after it's been available to the public for a year with another carrier. Hell even Metro PCS is tauting a 4G network AND 4G phones. Verizon has either gotten so big that they don't care about being cutting edge or they're so arrogant to think that they can bring their customers technology and service after it's been made available on other carriers for sometimes years before they roll it out.

I've already heard Verizon is considering not even bothering with a Windows 7 phone which as a consumer, I personally hate it when a company tries to limit my choices. I may have to jump over to Sprint or T-Mobile after all is said and done.

I think it has to do with Verizon using a different signal than what most of the rest of the world uses. AT&T has switched over to the same as Europe so they seem to get phones quicker as companies know that essentially one phone will work across multiple companies. Since Verizon's phones are somewhat special in that way, they get last dibs.

This also could be on purpose by Verizon. As new phones come out there will undoubtedly be bugs to work out and issues to overcome. By letting other companies handle those issues, they come across as having the most reliable phones and network.

I'm not sure where did you get that Verizon is the last to join 4G party, but as of today, AT&T doesn't have their 4G rolled out, besides the software switch. Speeds are still 3G, and they don't even give you the solid dates for the release date.
You can't compare Verizon that rolled out the most advanced 4G technology ahead of their schedule with any other half baked so called 4G networks.
 
Verizon just needs to come clean and say what’s going on. They will gain MASSIVE respect from me and probably many others. They can say tomorrow the phone won't be out until August because of unforeseen bugs and I will stand with them for the long haul.

Not a one of them has come from Verizon, the last I herd from my rep was the 28th, and he is claiming that it still stands, but I can only get less, and less excited about it. I'm think I'll go back to the Inc. if it's not out by the end of next week! I will only buy HTC because of the sense, but I would rather have the newer ver. of the snapdragon, and the 4G.
We shall see!
 
The problems are self inflicted by VZW and BB:

1. BB published Thunderbolt ad space. This alone suggests it was REAL soon, but something went wrong- REAL fast. This is BB and VZW messing up.
2. The infamous "May be earlier than expected" tweet by VZW (around the same time).

Net effect is perception and then people creating dates in their mind and others using the bogus date info as fact to proliferate to more people. BS firestorm.

Nope, VZW is dirty with this one and to correct perception, simply takes an update in the TB product page with a brief explanation and a time frame that is may release.

The key seems to be VZW do NOT know when the "date" is. If not and they are just being quiet, they are truly rubes in their marketing efforts.

Do not take offense but I personally do not understand how anyone can blame Best Buy for anything that has taken place reguarding the release of the TB. They are a third party supplier and probably just as much in the dark as any of us. Their choice to go ahead with pre orders was obviously based on info given to them by their Verizon reps. The Rep @ my local Verizon checked the cpu for me a dew days ago when I went in reguarding the release of the TB & the date in their system was still February 14, so that was obviously the original planned release date. BB's ads are without a doubt ordered and printed well in advance so also would be based on info from Verizon reps...& I'm sure its not as easy as just making corrections to millions of ads that have already been printed a day or two before release when delay info is given from Verizon reps. Also its clear that HTC has already shipped the devices so they can't be blamed. In the end all the blame should lie on Verizon for not atleast shedding some light on this delay and release.
