I will be going to Dominican Republic and since my s3 won't work there I wonder if I use the joyn app I at least will be able to text under wifi.

Thanks

Been wondering the same thing, taking a trip to Jamaica and if I don't get a S4 by then I'll be using joyn if not the digicel plans are cheap enough down there. Be using an iPhone 4 :afraid:

Yeah I will test it tomorrow over there fingers crossed now what digicel plan is that? Over there I think there's one cdma carrier but I have never heard of anyone using a metro phone out there

also use groove ip but first get your free number from google voice then log into groove ip and use 813 number on wifi

Not sure how metro implements it but from my understanding as long as you have wifi you can make and receive phone calls using your metro number just as if you had cell signal.

So wait all you need is wifi and anyone in the us can call you using my metropcs phone number?

Thats correct I made 3 calls so far no issues you will need the wifi connection and use the app for some reason text is not working now but calls go through

That sounds great! Wait does the person you call need to have the app or you could call anyone ? Sorry i ask too many questions but i have an app called viber and it is somewhat restrictive on who you can call and text.

No problem glad to help no the person does not need to have the app installed I made some more calls is a cool thing is like I'm in my house back in the states no issues but text are not going through I will find out

T mobile does something similar, wifi calling they call it, only phones that are compatible with it will use it though, basically if your cell network is unreachable but wifi connection is calls will go out and come in just fine. This, as is joyn are carrier implemented features so its not like an app on the playstore that may or may not work as intended.

Yea, I used the joyn app while in Europe, works like a charm :)

Make sure you install and run the app while in America!!!!!! Otherwise you won't be able to activate it.

Edit: texting does not work over WiFi though.

How? U sure it sent over WiFi??? Put it in airplane mode so you're sure.

Yes over wifi I haven't turn airplane mode on funny thing is that I text others and never got a reply but with a friend I was able to text and even got a picture message too but will let you know later
