Has Eris Been EOL'ed yet?

I tried to find that thread but couldn't

THey really need to improve that search option
but anyways

has it been Eol'ed yet?

The reason I asked is the fact that
My grandma made me laugh today

She was like "Carmenita, how much does the iphone cost on verizon?"

after explaining for 10 mins, AT & T were the only ones who sell the phone and she was saying that was discrimination(How idk)

She asked me about some phones Verizon has.

"I want that greek goddess phone you have(I had told her a while back the phone was named after a greek goddess)...you know Aphrodite(she mispronounced the phone)"

"Abuela, i think you mean Droid Eris. If you want a touch phone get the Droid incredible. You love taking pix of all of us so it would be perfect for you and it's bigger for you to use when you type."

"No i want the Greek god phone. That other one sounds masculine. Get it for your Abuelo."

So she wants the greek goddess phone.
Has it been Eol'ed yet. I really want to
make sure that it hasn't because i don't want her
buying something that is already obsolete
 
Tell her it costs $500. Get an Incredible for yourself and then give her your Eris :D. I kid, i kid.
 
Are you interested in an incredible at all? Then you could just give her your phone and get an incredible. If she doesn't like it, you can always trade back.

Not bashing the eris at all here, I still have mine and intend to keep it that way. Just saying, an incredible will be easier to get rid of should she (or you) not like it.
 
Well I am no longer with Verizon.
I went to Sprint and have a hero(waiting for Evo)

So i had already given my Eris to my little
brother since he has been wanting a touchscreen phone.

My Abuela is a trip. She is in love with Greek mythology
and something tells me that is the only reason she wants
it.

Oh and to answer your questions/statements, i already had the inc
before so no im no longer interested in it.

I just want to make sure the Eris hasn't been Eoled like it was rumored to be
because my philosophy is.

I'd never buy an Eoled phone because
if something happened to it
i rather know they were still making it if i ever
needed a replacement
and not just trying to get rid of their stock
so they can make room for the newest phone
they have
 
As far as I know, the Eris has not been officially announced to be at end of life. I searched for all Eris articles on VZW's press website and there was nothing about it being discontinued.
 
Just to add my 2 cents. i have seen emails to a couple of people I know that state the phone is not going to EOL anytime soon. 1 email even stated that it was a bad rumor and hoax by someone.

I myself asked my verizon store (was acting like I wanted a new and better android) and they asked why, so I said i read about the EOL and they told me that nothing has come their way at all suggesting this and I should keep the eris and that they have a software update planned for the phone but couldn't give me a date.

I dont know how true it is one way or another but it seems the Eris may be around a little longer..
 
But when has verizon
ever announced
there phones was EOLED

when the incredible first went on the site
i noticed the 1st gen Blackberry storm
had been removed
 
Always be careful about recommending phones to other people. Something that is great for your needs may be much more (or less) than what someone else needs. Does your grandmother really need a smartphone? Would she use the features? Does she realize that she would need a dataplan?

My mom has had the same cell phone for at least 10 years. I'm sure she couldn't activate it on any network now, but since it is already activated, it keeps running. It makes and receives calls. That is all it does. That is all she needs or wants it to do.

I'm not trying to be ageist here. I just hear the word grandmother coupled with a smart phone and I cringe. I realize that there are plenty of young grandparents who are very much into technology. There are plenty who are still working and actually need all the things that a smart phone provides. There are plenty of others who would have no idea what to do with it.

Talk to her about what she wants to do with her phone. Really get an idea of the things that she would use. Make sure that she will be able to use whatever phone she ends up getting.
 
Actually my brother
has got her a phone
that i know she is not going to be able to handle...

oh god...this means that one of us is going to have to be the one to show her
how to use it
and it took 3 weeks to teach her how to text
and she still doesn't understand

that every single word does not need to be typed like a typical teen would type.
case in point

"I went 2 da sto 4 sum can-d"

I went to the store for some candy is what she would be trying to type.
Windows mobile+an abuela trying to be hip=an annoyed carmen
 
cute story but are you sure you abuela won't do better with one of those Jitterbugs? A guy at work, who is always showing off his BB, walked up to me and said something about my Eris being EOL'd...said it smugly.
 
yeah you try to telling her to get jitterbug and you might catch a shoe
to the head lolzzz

they have cute commericals though.

and he should not be bragging about BB. Aside from the crap that are Storms, there hardware and OS has pretty much been the same since they came out.

That's the way I text, and actually my kids do as well (and are proud of themselves for doing this.) I will abbreviate if I am over the 160 characters, but not otherwise. To be honest, I wouldn't have known what a "sto" was if you sent that to me.

Your grandmother may like one of those new Kin phones, actually. They look simpler for basics than Android (or, of course, Windows Mobile.)

I showed her the video
of the kins on youtube.

She likes the Kin two
so i told her to return the imagio
and get that phone

And my mom is 33
and she is a texter
except she text like this

and.it's.so.annoying.all.these.periods.and.i.don't.know.
why.she.does.this.

My dad is 33 and text mainly like a typical teen does
I'm 17 so i text with abbreviations i just hate when people
make abbreviations for words that aren't normally abbreviated
or make sense

but it always funny when you teach an older person
to txt because we were trying to teach my Abuela
how to say Qwerty and it was soo cute
cuz she kept calling it Qberty like that game.

Man.they.had.you.at.a.young.age! You.guys.can.all.grow.old.together.;)

My parents were also quite young when they started having their brood. Just 5 of us. Not like in the old days. My paternal Abuelos had 13 kids! :eek:

Poor Abuelita.
