Help Has the Skype problem been resolved?

My searches to date for the "Skype crashing on Nexus 4" problem do not show a final solution and strangely enough are all quite old.

Does this problem still exist? ...if not, can anyone direct me to final solution?

My current idea to test, is to downgrade to version 2.8.0.920.

Any other ideas?

....Thanks.

I am not sure what issues you are talking about... I run Skype 4.4.0.31835 on stock 4.3 and have never had an issue with crashing, use it a few times a week and sometimes for as long as an hour on a single video call with no issues, mostly on WiFi but occasionally on mobile data with AT&T GoPhone.

Interesting, must be something with the setup/configuration .... Do you disable screen lock when using Skype on your Nexus 4? ......or anything special?

Happened to me last nite while connected with wifi. After a few minutes my Nexus just shutdown.

No, nothing special... bone stock Nexus 4, no apps installed that would have any effect on anything that I am aware of. The only thing I have done different than some people is when I finally took the 4.3 update, I factory defaulted and reinstalled all apps via the Play Store, but in theory that shouldn't make any difference. I didn't know this was an issue for other people...

I too have a "bone stock Nexus 4" with the 4.3 update. I also had a strange occurrence on each exit of the app. It always required two exits to completely close the app. When I installed a previous version this pm, everything appeared to function normally. It seems that your idea to reinstall the latest update might be in order.

Thanks for your time ......

Update: Nope ... that didn't work either. The phone crashed and sound was awful. Other apps' sound works well. Gotta be Skype.

Any other suggestions? .... anyone?

Well, a full reset of my Nexus 4 was performed and a new clean copy of Skype was downloaded/installed. No luck. Skype still forced the phone to reboot after a few minutes.

Could this be a 4.3 problem?

As a Unix user since 1988, and computer user since 10 years prior to that, I have to confess that I have seen Micro$oft intentionally mess up everything and anything having to do with Linux/Unix, as as a means of subliminally coaxing people to buy their product instead. They neither work nor play well with others.

Now that M$ owns Skype, it's not surprising to see them do the same thing on Android embedded Linux.

There is 4 different android devices in my house nexus 4,7 and 10 also a HTC one s and Skype is terrible on all of them. I don't understand why they don't try fix it instead of updates every other month that only changes the layout but never fixes the any of the issues that Skype has.

Yep skype is terrible. My profile shows im online for the second week.. It sync my contacts even though i checked DO Not Sync. It reboots Nexus 4 while talking. Terrible app, terrible ui, horrible service. Multi-billion dollar software corporation can't make a stable app. That's pretty embarrassing.
