Help Hate Combined inbox

I seem to have the opposite question of most of the posters. I just switched from a GS2 to a GS4A and I HATE the combined inbox. If I wanted everything in one place, I would only use one email address. I have separate accounts for a reason, because I want them separate. I don't want to have personal emails about forum posts and lord knows what else showing up in the same pane as my work emails, etc.

I did find where to stop it from even showing my texts [its under the default account, more settings, uncheck SMS.]

Is there a way to get it to NOT show the combined inbox, without just disabling everything or using different mail clients? What I think I want is the way my GS2 had of showing email, where it would show the inboxes, but not the contents until you drilled down to them.
 
Is that really the only option I mean come on, Android is the most configurable phone system on the planet deciding that everybody must want to use combined Inbox only just seems a lot more like an apple thing. I like having one app to get to multiple email addresses I just don't want them all to show up on the same screen
 
I know folks here where I work use Touchdown for work email, works with Exchange, and is the only Android Mail client allowed on our network due to it's security features with BES10.
 
First of all, everything doesn't go into a combined inbox. that is just one of the mailboxes you have - you also have separate mailboxes for each account. That is the way it is on blackberry and on lots of other business oriented phones.


With a lot of mail clients, you can simply put a shortcut on the screen that is for the account-specific mailbox. On my droid 3, I had a shortcut on the screen for my personal mail and another for my work mail.

You can't do that with the native S4 client, but there is nothing to stop you from downloading something (like Enhanced Email) that does have that feature.
 
Is there a way to "hide" the combined inbox and/or some of the folders from that or other accounts? I want to be able to switch back/forth more easily and combined is always in the way, and I don't want combined.. I liked the tabs in the older versions :)

This new material design, combined inbox is horrible.
Any app beside k9 you guys would recommend? anything that has some skinning/themes that are not gray on white?
