Just as the title says I currently have an Evo on Sprint and am looking to possibly get an Evo Shift or a samsung Epic. I love my evo but am looking to get something a little smaller and also that has a keybaord. Is it worth it and those who use the phone do you like it...Also how is battery life with the second gen processor?

Take it from a self-proclaimed Evo poster boy :D - it's fab.

Battery life is absolutely outstanding. We leave GPS, wifi and 3G radios on, automatic brightness, background data - all of the evils - and usually have 60% or better left after a full work day of heavy-moderate use. That's probably a combination of the smaller screen, way more efficient 2nd gen silicon and the same battery that the Evo uses.

It's comparing VERY well to my custom kernel tuned Evo in overall smoothness - a little better in some areas, a little less in others, so overall, it's pretty much an equivalent experience.

If you have cases where embedded flash ads or vids slightly lag on quick screen movements on your Evo - those are greater on the Shift.

My wife got the Shift, and now we often trade off, depending on what's needed - and I've got no complaints rolling with the Shift. (The screen's too small for my comfort when eBook reading, but that's entirely personal preference.)

EarlyMon hit the nail on the head. I would definitely take a gander at his source material there... some great reference material for reinforcing the switch. Had the phone for a little over a week now, and i have no complaints. No glaring performance issues, manipulating the interface and tabbing in and out of programs has been remarkably smooth. To any avail, i won't bog this post down any more than i have to... it's a very solid entry into Sprint's mobile line-up, and i think you would be hard-pressed to be disappointed with it.

Battery life is maybe 40-50% better than the Evo, and the Droid X also. I had the Evo last year and the X now, and the battery life on both are horrible. The Shift loses maybe 15% batter life overnight, not bad for me.

The keyboard takes a little getting used to. Not that great, but not too bad after you use it a while.

I have both the Shift and X with me and just surf on whichever one has the best signal where I'm at.

I love just about everything about the EVO Shift. Battery life is slightly better than my previous phone (Samsung Moment) but the speed is a night and day difference.

With almost every single one of my previous phones (Samsung Moment, LG Shine, HTC Touch Pro 2, and numerous older flip phones) there has been bugs and small annoying issues right out of the box. The Shift is the first phone I can honestly say has never given me any issues whatsoever.

Only things I'd change...

Android 2.3 (on its way)
Easy 1 click rooting wizard (on its way)
Spring loaded hinges

I can't comment on how it is coming from an EVO but I have to say that the battery life is just awesome. I came from a stock Hero. For example, I have been on and off of 4G all day, texting, internet surfing quite a bit, facebooking, etc and was down to 30% battery life. Then I took a chance and called an old friend whom I haven't talked to in a few weeks and we chatted for about 40min. My battery went down only 10%.

I give the evo a solid 8.5 out of 10. How can you guys really believe that this smaller phone is better than the original Evo? Bigger is better right? WRONG. I'm just messin with y'all. I am absolutely in love with the shift. DONT MISS MY ORIGINAL EVO FOR A SECOND and I never thought those words would ever slip out of my mouth. Dont have a single complaint about original evo other than crap battery life, but coming from a samsung moment, Evo was a dream. Only trouble is, Evo SHIFT is better. Way better. Like OMFG THIS PHONE ROCKS better.

Hope that review helps.

PS just rooted my shift. I suggest waiting for the simplified version of the rooting process. I had some trouble rooting mine, but finally got it.
