Have to replace LCD

dropped my phone the other day and somehow the lcd cracked but the digitizer is fine. Waiting for the replacement to come in the mail.. but i'm worried if it'll work or not. i read that slcd and amoled uses differnt kernels is this correct? i had a amoled before and i'm guessing that the replacement will be a slcd due to the shortage of the amoled now. i can easily change the kernel if i had a screen to work with but with a cracked lcd am i screwed?

Someone else here had an AMOLED phone and cracked their screen and couldn't get the new slcd screen to work with it all, even after going back to complete stock.

They said they were positive they installed it correctly...but I guess you never know. This was the post:

i got the replacement and everything is working thankfully. But a bit disappointed in the slcd.. i liked the whites better on the amoled the whites on the slced has like a grayish tan to it.. mehh..

My dell streak has touch problem,my little cousin threw a ball and dropped on my steak,it's really too bad,does anyone know how to fix this?
both the digitizer is cracked and the LCD is bleeding,help!i think this is out of the warranty from dell.what can i do now?

I don't feel the warranty would cover little cousin throws ball anyway haha, and this is droid incredible forum my friend, I would search for others would may have had the same problem as yourself. Best of luck.

I would imagine that the fix will be similar to our incredible. Search amazon for a dell streak digitizer and lcd, but i must say having to buy both is going to be rather costly.
