Having a problem choosing a phone

Hello.

I am going to buy a new phone in the next weeks. First i saw the HTC Evo 4G and it looked mighty nice. Then i saw the iPhone 4 which also looks mighty nice.

There is a problem though. I live in Iceland so i can't use any of the phone companies in the US (Sprint, AT&T e.t.c.). A friend of mine is currently in the US and can buy a phone for me but i need to know if i can use it in Iceland or not.

I would need to either jailbreak the iPhone or unlock the Evo somehow but i am not familiar as to how i would do that or get the phone without subscription somehow. I also don't know how much that will cost.

So basically the question is:
Should i buy the iPhone 4 and just jailbreak it when a jailbreak for it comes out or buy the HTC Evo 4G and unlock it if i can't buy it unlocked?

Do you have a cdma network in Iceland? If yes, the Evo can be good. If you only have a GSM network, then go for the iPhone. If you have both, either wait for the iPhone, or go ahead and buy the Evo now. :)
