Having a smartphone without data.......

You know, up until today, I have had great luck with my Bionic. Sure, I get dropped signals every now and again and the battery drains quick, but overall, I am satisfied with the phone. Today on the other hand, I havent had a data connection for over 12 hours. At home on wifi, everything worked great. I left to go to work and havent had a signal since. Reboot, airplane mode, calling a number, even pulling the battery numerous times; I get no service. Now, I get 3 bars of 3g coverage, but its whitened out and I cant get data. This bites.... Nothing like having a super fast dual core 4g paperweight....

ideas ...

Stop pulliong the battery. Achieve the same end by holding down Volume Up/Volume Down/Power until it passes the menu and goes black.

I would pull the battery one last time and make sure the SIM card and SD-Ext card are firmly and squarely seated.

If it then continues I would take it back to where I bought it.

(It sounds almost like Wifi is enabled in an area with no Wifi it fails and when when you go home it works.)

(This is all guessing of course.)

(Final GUESS is replace SIM card.)

I've heard a good thing that fixes this problem is try to connect to Google Talk, it will attempt to force it to connect to the internet. Also under battery manager, go into data, and make sure all three options are selected. hopefully this helps, I've had this problem on mine and using google talk will force it to connect to the internet and thus my 4G icon will turn blue.

mine did this thursday for 6 hrs. bottom line is sim card went bad. Verizon replaced it at store phone works perfect now. mine only worked on wifi, picked up 3g singal but did nothing

I have had that happen too, I got 4g, but when it switched over to 3g the icon stayed white, hence no data. A new sim card fixed the problem.

I think this means ... go to ...

Settings | Battery & data manager | Data delivery

... and make surte all three options are selected.

I think the "Data roaming" option ought to be considered carfully. I personally have it turned off. If they are going to try it for this issue (I am still thinking it is a SIM card) I would suggest trying it with the idea that they will then turn it back off after they do.

Another idea is to call your local VZW store / CS and find out if there is an outage in your area.

As of last nite my 3g isnt working. 4g works fine. I am wondering if there is a network issue going on. Tried rebooting but 3g wont even pick up til i switch over to 4g which works.

Updatr: and of course when I try it now without even rebooting it works...go figure...

So around 0300 my service resumed out of the blue..... 14 or so hours without a connection and then it works fine. Makes me think it was just a verizon network issue. Or maybe yet, because I posted in this forum, someone on the inside flipped the switch for me... j/k So far today, I havent had any dropped signals; gotta love technology....
