So I don't know if this is because of the froyo update or not, but I only just noticed it now.

I cannot play any music or video files on the phone. It can take photos, but an error "recording failed" shows up when I bring up the camcorder mode. Also, when I try to plug the phone into the computer, Kies 1.5 has been taking forever to 'connect'. It's been one hour and still going. I'm assuming it won't connect at all.

Please help!

Follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have the USB drivers installed on your computer (64-bit drivers can be downloaded here, 32-bit drivers can be downloaded here)
  2. Download Odin one-click restore from here
  3. Open the Odin one-click restore application
  4. Power-off your phone, then start your phone in download mode (hold both volume buttons while you plug your phone into a USB cable connected to your computer)
  5. In the Message box in Odin, it should say something like "Added!!"
  6. Click on Start in Odin, then let it do its thing (this may take a few minutes)

Your phone will eventually restart. At this point, we are back to Android 2.1 (Eclair). Now, we will go back to Android 2.2 (Froyo):

  1. Unplug your phone
  2. Download Kies Mini from here and install it on your computer
  3. Open Kies Mini
  4. Make sure your phone's USB connection type is set to "Kies" (Menu button -> Settings -> Applications -> USB settings -> Kies)
  5. Plug in your phone
  6. In Kies Mini, you should now be able to select Phone Upgrade, then let it do its thing (this may take a few minutes)

After this completes, you should be back to Froyo.

Let me know if you have any problems in the process!
