Root Having trouble changing ROMs

Maxson

Lurker
Hi Guys,

I used the all things root guide from this forum
(http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...hings-root-guide-updated-2nd-june-2012-a.html)

But I appear to be struggling a bit, everything was going swimmingly (I used the ACE kit to root and used ClockworkMod to change ROMs)

I first tried IceColdSandwich Theme Edition (V3) And it appeared to install fine, however, after completing the install the Splash screen (not the Initial HTC One, the IceCold Sandwich theme edition one) just stays on forever

So I tried IceColdSandwich 8.0 and Again, I'm stuck on the IceColdSandwich splash screen.

I'm not sure if it's stuck per se, or if it's just taking forever to load on first Boot.

Any advice?

Don't panic... we will try and get you sorted :)

When you are in clockworkmod, before flashing the ROM, did you perform wipes? You need to wipe cache (factory reset) and data... this could be your problem...

Hi, thanks in advance for your help.

I tried this briefly just after I posted my original post and tried IceColdSandwich Theme edition again. I've just tried it again and gone for RD MIUI ICS and am on the splash screen again.

I've got fastboot off as that's what the ACE manual told me to do so I'm not sure if the first boot after updating would take so long because of this?

...I just plugged in the USB cable and RD MIUI ICS went past the splash screen, so I'll go make an attempt at putting ICS Theme ed back on.

Edit: Yep, that did it, took a long time to first boot up but it's now working just fine!

Thanks for your help

first boots normally take quite a while when you flash a new rom, in my experience its about 5 seconds longer then when you think your phone is frozen and you reboot. this will probably happen every time that you flash, so just be patient :)

No worries mate... as Sandeep has said, the first time you boot, it can take a little longer than normal to get in to the system.

You should ALWAYS perform wipes when you go from one ROM to another (when going from one version of a ROM to a newer version of the same ROM, you don't necessarily need to perform wipes, but I always do).

If you need anything else, feel free to hit us up :)
