Et_iGrind

Newbie
Im having trouble flashing velocity v 0.4 on my ally... I follow all the instructions.....wiping data&cache, davlik cache and all that......it says installation complete but when i reboot, my phone stays on the lg screen or the verizon wirelss screen............Any thoughts or suggestions???

it stayed for a while......and even sometimes it would go to the verizon wireless screen and go right back to recovery mode.....

Lucky you got that far, mine just says intallation started, then right after says installation aborted (bad) i tried velocity 0.3 twice and velocity 0.4 many times. ive got to figure this out...

*ive got the exact steps that i take and exactly what happens in a text document so if anyone thinks they can help me, please feel free to pm me and ill send it to you*

Please post your existing setup.

What rom do you have now?
A2SD?
Recovery?
Radio (baseband) Version?

Stock 2.1?
Stock 2.2.1?
Stock with root?
Stock with recovery?

Help me help you here, when you just say stock it leads me to believe you need to follow the root and recovery procedures. But by looking at your post it makes be think you already have some kind of custom recovery, otherwise you couldn't be wiping or attempting to flash

You will want to go thru the same process to flash as you would in clockwork.

  1. Make a new nandroid backup (clockwork and amon ra are not interchangeable)
  2. Put the velocity 4 zip (whole zip dont extract) on your SDcard, you can select toggle USB/MS in amon ra to copy files onto the phone if they are not there already
  3. In Amon Ra, go to wipe menu, and wipe all user data, dalvik-cachee, and sd:ext
  4. Select flash zip from sdcard and choose your velocity 4 zip
  5. If it goes thru with no errors, reboot and you should be golden, please remember it takes up to 10 minutes to finish first boot.

ok ill go try this and let you know how it works...i feel like i might have extracted them maybe thats my problem

He means just take the whole zip file that is downloaded and trasfer to your sd card rather than unzipping and then transfering.

so let me get this right, im new and i wanna make sure im doing it correct. it doesnt say "nandroid" i go into recovery mode, and select backup, correct?

Yuppers

When you hear someone talking about nandroid they are talking about a backup made by recovery. The first option will be fine.
