Root Having trouble with Kernel

I'm still very new to this and I'm having a very difficult time getting my phone to work properly so please, if anyone could please help me I would really appreciate it, or if I can be pointed to another website thats a bit more helpful, please.

- I installed Pete's GPA13 Gingerbread Stock Rom and I've been having all sorts of issues. I also flashed the 1.1 GhZ kernel and it shows up in the "About Phone" section but I cant use the overclock widget to control it, it only shows a max of 600. I reflashed and I'm assuming Im just on 1.1ghz at all times and I just cant control it.

- I installed golauncher and a couple of other things and then I rebooted the phone and suddenly my home button just didnt work, it wouldnt do anything. I again wiped and reinstalled the rom and my button was working again.

- Then my battery got low and I got a phonecall and It wouldnt let me answer it, I would hear the ring, see the call but when I would answer, nothing came up. It would not let me make calls, the 3g symbol would disappear as soon as I hit "Call". The 3G symbol and the bars are turning from green to white and random and the 3g symbol comes and goes. I have his stock rom and I dont have anything that turns it on and off, I got rid of juicedefender and rebooted and I can make calls now but the symbol just keeps going off and on.

- Each time something goes wrong I need to wipe and reflash I have to then reinstall all my apps and settings again, I used titanium backup but even then its a bit of a process and I dont even know if I'm using it right

Please, I really dont know whats going on and I'm having such a horrible time trying to do this to my phone, I just want it to be running a ROM properly without having all this trouble, I just want it to work right, what can I do?

There are a number of things to look at. If you made a back up of your ROM that was stable before flashing GPA then you can always go back to that to start from it again. If you didn't make a back then we'll have to try and work through it.

First off, the icons going from green to white and back is nothing to freak about. When they are green it means your phone is tied to google and white means it is not. You can still get online and make calls and do everything you normally would.

Try redownloading the GPA Rom again to make sure you have a non-corrupt file. Then wipe both data and cache 3 times to be safe. Then flash the ROM. Once that is done DO NOT flash anything else. Reboot your phone and see how well the ROM works. Do not use TiBu just incase something from that is causing a problem. Once your apps have resownloaded and if the ROM is working well do a backup. Hopefully you will now have a solid backup to go with.

If you still want a faster kernel then try and flash it; however, not all kernels work for all phones and 1.1 maybe to high for your phone. Also make sure your using a Gingerbread kernel and not a Froyo specific one.

These are a few thing to try out. And remember always backup your ROM before flashing or altering anything.

If it set cpu you need to click the auto recognize my device and then it should show the correct speeds.

+1 ^^^ skilaufen's post. Also, sometimes you _might_ have to wait more than an hour or two or _maybe_ even over 24 hours to get a reply. You have gotten replies in all three of the threads I found of yours.

good luck
