as the header says, I switched from hboot 1.4 to 1.50 jbear.
how do I know if its unlocked?
was asking because the 1.04 said locked or unlocked.. this one doesnt :> didnt know if I had to go through the bootloader unlock
I don't believe the engineering (ENG 1.04) hboot shows the locked/unlocked/relocked status either. It would be on the first line of the bootloader screen and all that shows there is the name of the bootloader.was asking because the 1.04 said locked or unlocked.. this one doesnt :> didnt know if I had to go through the bootloader unlock
hmm i know I saw it on one of them lol oh well :>
Sort of.S-off trumps all.
Sort of.
Unless you are trying to use fastboot commands like "flash" and "boot". Then you need either an unlocked stock bootloader or a custom hboot like JBear, ENG or Revolutionary even if you are S-OFF.

Here's scotty85's comments on the engineering bootloader:I've seen a lot of discussion about the jbear hboot lately, which left me wondering whether it is better to have the jbear 1.50 hboot over the engineering 1.04. I'm currently on the latter, with s-off and unlocked bootloader and was wondering if I should make the switch.
And here's my case for using the the JBear 1.57.5757 hboot if you are only planning to run Sense ROM's and the JBear 1.50.5050 version to flash and boot GB and AOSP based ROM's in addition to most Sense ROM's.*what is a patched hboot?
a "patched" hboot is simply an hboot that has been patched to provide some or all of the same commands as a real engineering hboot. they can be considered safer than a real eng hboot, since they are generally made of newer, more reliable hboot versions. eng hboots have generally been around since prior to the phones release. a patched hboot also can block itself from being overwritten by other hboots, wich can be a huge advantage on phones where the radio secure flag is actually "on" as the s-off hboot will always remain, even if OTAs are taken,or RUUs run.

It's up to you and as long as you're careful the ENG 1.04 hboot isn't going to damage your phone, but to me it's like running GB when ICS and JB are available. It will work, but why would you do it?

JBear 1.50.5050, of course. So what HBOOT are you using Ramjet?
JBear 1.50.5050, of course.
Actually, my primary phone runs MeanROM ICS 2.6 which is "stockish" Sense 3.6 based ROM similar to Harmonia so I use the Sprint ICS stock 1.58 hboot on that, but my backup Evo 3D that I do most of my flashing and testing with runs JBear 1.50.5050 unless I have a specific reason to use another hboot.

Read post #13 above. ^^^^So you feel like the 1.04 is inferior to the 1.50.5050 HBOOT? If so, why?

It is not VM ready and the developer (mikeyxda) has moved on to the Evo 4G LTE so I doubt that it ever will be. At one time it was based on what was called the "VM leak RUU" and was "Sprintified", but it was re-based on the Sprint ICS RUU when that became available.I keep looking at that ROM on xda, is it VM ready do you know? Im looking for a base to start my custom with. Basically all I want to do is stockish, themed, minimal, and tweaked. I'd love to build off the most basic up to date stock source but theres so much to incorperate to it, to find all of the info would be insane
Can I get a link to the 1.50.5050 HBOOT please?
