Root HBoot and Recovery?

Hi,

Sorry for the n00b question.

Any recommendations for recovery. What about Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7? As for HBoot, are there equivalents like the ones on alpharev.nl?

I have a Desire also and use Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 and it works very well. I use HBoot Bravo CM7 r2 from the alpharev.nl website. It enabled internal memory to increase from 147MB to 287MB. Combined with A2SD it resolved the internal memory issue. Just wondering whether the Desire require needs similar ones. If yes, please recommend:

-recovery
-HBoot
-ROM (preference for stability and Sense versions)

ClockworkMod and 4EXT Recovery are both fine. 4EXT has a few more bells and whistles that, depending on what kind of user you are, might be superfluous, i.e. themes and partitioning options.

If you want to enjoy custom ROMS you need an S-OFF HBOOT, the best type being an ENG (Engineering) S-OFF HBOOT to avoid flashing/overwriting hassles.

The most popular is 0.98.2000. This allows you to flash anything, radio, kernel, recovery, etc. (It's ENG.)

The Revolutionary HBOOTs (6.98.1000/6.98.1002) will work as 0.98.2000, but you need to install a different HBOOT if you want to use an RUU to get back to a stock/branded ROM, e.g. to keep your warranty valid.

2.00.2002 is like 0.98.2000, but gives a different partition table (more system memory space, less cache), although you need the right ROM to exploit this.

Re: Sense ROMS. The Virtuous developers have a good reputation. Hyperion reports as stable. There are Sense 3.5 ROMs, too, from these two developers.
