Root Hboot change?!?!?!

I have Hboot 1.04

I try to run diff roms but they freeze can I simply flash hboot 1.58 and do that or will that brick device someone help!!!

This should be posted in ATR, however most roms will state which hboot to use in the post, the 1.04 usually works well with AOKP and AOSP roms whereas most Sense based roms prefer the latest hboot which I believe are 1.57 for Virgin Mobile Sense based and 1.58 for Sprints. Also you don't flash hboot through recovery, you use the bootloader.
