Help HDMI function problems

htcguy99

Lurker
I had my phone plugged into an outlet to charge and decided to listen to music, prompting me to plug in my headset and somehow trigger a notification about turning on the HDMI functionality of the phone. Thing is I had no HDMI cable actually inserted. The next thing I knew the volume on my phone was just blasting out even though the Media volume settings were at 0 and my phone began to act strange. It began to react slowly and power down randomly. I removed the battery and reinserted it several times. Now it won't even turn on.

Please help!

Hello!!
Is the battery fully charged? When you plug your charger in does the led come on now?
Is your battery old or new?
Were you using stock player or a third party app?
Also are you rooted or not?

Sorry for all the questions, but may help to get you an answer!
And I believe I should say "Welcome to the Phandroid Forums!!!".

Thanks for replying! The battery was slightly above half-charged at the time, give or take 60% I'd say. The LED light does turn on when I plug the charger in. My phone uses the same battery it came with and I got my Evo 4G I believe a year and a half ago? It was Spring 2011.
I was using the built-in Android music player that's preinstalled in the phone.
I believe my phone is not rooted.

I remember having this problem before and even though it eventually resolved itself (somehow, I believe after several updates), it's popped up again as you might see. I conducted a factory reset of my phone and that hasn't really helped at all. In fact, new problems have arose. I'm still having issues with the audio, but the touch screen is becoming unresponsive and fidgety around some areas where, even when pressure/contact is not applied, it will demonstrate activity in that region of the screen. Various other features such as the battery percentage depicts a lack of charging activity, which is giving me reason to show concern.

Wow, that's a lot of issues! Did you ever take it to a sprint store to see if they could fix it?
It could be h/w problems, you ever had any bad drops or something like that?

You could try replacing the battery, you can get decent extended ones for fairly cheap nowadays.

If software you could always try rooting and seeing if custom software fixes your problem.

Someone else might have better advice.

With all the problems arising, I would agree with Robobob and perhaps take it to Sprint.
I dont know if you have insurance, or if the deductible warrants another phone or replacement or not......

Or, root it and see if some, if not all issues are resolved...Sprint will not care if the phone is rooted....:)
