Root HDMI out? Can root give this?

Can anyone give me any ideas on how to get my Sharp Aquos TV to recognize my droid x? It does not matter if I start the video or not. In fact, I can not click on the channel (four in this case) through the INPUT selector on the remote control. I've plugged the HDMI cable in the OUTPUT channel 4 and 5 but the TV shows that channel not available for selection, meaning the TV is not recognizing the DROID... :(

Probably the same issue I had.... can't remember if I posted it though.

Unplug an existing active port from the tv (tv must be on that source).

Then start video... wait for controls to come up (doesn't come up right away). If the controls come up, hit play and it should start on your TV.

I'll agree that there's no "handshake" occurring.

Thanks for the quick response, Syntrix. Unfortunately, I unplugged all connections to the back of the Sharp TV, then plugged the Droid X into both the Input 4 and Input 5 channels, but could not select either channel. It shows no input there. Once again, the set is not recognizing the Droid. Poopy. I am not sure what to do next. Calling Verizon did not help. Great support usually, but I think the unit is so new, they are playing catchup. Wonder is another video app would help?
