Hello, will it be possible to attach a DVI monitor to the HDMI port of the Atrix?

HDMI and DVI are compatible normally, and HDMI/DVI signals can be sent through either cable. So does it support the DVI signal?

Do other phones with HDMI out do?

Sorry for not posting for a few (or a lot of) days, but, thank you very much! I figured I'd need MicroHDMI -> HDMI -> DVI cables/adapters but I just needed to know the mere technicality of it actually working with DVI . Actually I am also not American, so those hyperlinks actually do nothing for me

I think it comes with a microHDMI to HDMI cable, so all you will need is the HDMI to DVI adapter. As long as you display supports a digital connection via DVI-D, it should work. If it only supports DVI-A (VGA via a DVI-I cable) it will not.

The other consideration is the native resolution of the monitor. From what I've seen, the Atrix will only output fixed HD resolutions, IE 720p, 1080i, 1080p. If your display's native resolution is for example 1120x960 you may get a little bit of a distorted image. I haven't seen anyone who has hooked it up to an actual computer display yet, so far they have always been HDTVs, but I've been busy and haven't read many reviews in the last few days.

FYI, DVI doesn't carry audio, so I don't know if the regular minijack has audio that can be patched or if you'd need a more exotic solution that breaks out the audio from HDMI and provides video pass-through.

Perhaps current technology, but I've seen plenty of LCDs that get blocky if you don't use the display's native resolution.

Then again, most of the LCDs I've used are old enough that they had DVI as an afterthought or were laptop displays. I held onto my CRTs as long as I could because comparable sized LCDs wont match the resolution (1600x1400 on a 19" display). I really haven't messed with resolutions below the max the screen is capable of in a while.

It looked like the dock had a 3.5mm jack on it next to the power supply input. If going sans dock, there's always the headphone jack. This can be converted to RCA if need be.

Yeah, that's what I was saying above using the mini jack, assuming it's active when the HDMI cable is connected.

We've got a little HTPC upstairs using an HDMI>DVI and just use the audio out of the audio connection 3.5mm >> dual RCA

Cool, I just wanted to point that out about losing the audio when going from HDMI to DVI
