Hi I recently bought an micro USB to HDMI adapter, I connected it to my phone and my LCD HDTV and my tv did not display anything I even tried playing a movie. Is it that the phone doesn't support HDMI? Because I saw a file on the phone In /system/bin called hdmid if that has to do with anything...

/system/bin hdmid (file)
/d/hdmi
/d/asoc/msm8960–snd–card/HDMI_RX_HOSTLESS
/dev/graphics/ hdmi (file)

Did you try to set up the video as stored in the Gallery of your phone? It should invoke once you make the selection if the hdmi cable is connected.

Here's an old turorial for the Droid X, but should be very similar (simple as it is ;)):

How to connect your Android phone to an HDTV | How To - CNET

Are you seeing those controls?

Nope none of that works, nothing shows up when connecting the phone to HDMI and yes I tried through the gallary app. Could it be that the phone doesn't support it? Because there are many files and directories on this phone relating to HDMI if you see the original post I added these directories.

I see you've rooted the device. I'm wondering more about what you've removed following root.

Would you consider an un-root procedure and a factory data reset?

I only removed a bunch of bloatware, MetroPCS has a lot of crap like easy WiFi, my extras, metro block it, it's all useless crap and I am 100% sure that has nothing to do with it, also in the display setting there is no option for hdmi.

This phone doesn't support HDMI output, but however once we get recovery we can start to port or write programs for farther our experiences on this phone...we need more testers for recovery before we can do customization

But what will that do if MHL is hardware thing meaning it sends image and audio through micro usb same place where you charge your phone. What I was wondering was why are there so many files and directories on this phone relating to HDMI if the phone clearly doesn't support it..

To me its the same thing as most phones they wanted to put hdmi support but from giving us e everything inside this phone would make this phone a great simple smart phone so understand most phones are capable of doing more then what they tell us, they just stopped it so their next phone will be something we buy...its all about knowing knowledge of how to make us hungry for more and spend more money... :-P
