Headphone socket

I have just noticed that my headphone socket is not designed properly. Or I have a defective unit.

If I put my plug in all the way I do not get a connection - no sound. If I put the plug in about half way all is OK.

Is it my Desire or are they all this way??

are these the standard headphones or your own... there has been talk about incompatibilities depending on how many plastic bands you have on the actual jack plug

These are my Sennsour (?) phones. 2 bands not 3 like the Desire ones.

that may be it then... try the supplied ones... i know they are crap but at least you can rule out a dodgy socket

My Sennheiser headphones plug in all the way and work perfectly.

It's not just about the rings. The trs connection (2 rings) should work fine but some don't. The socket on the desire is designed poorly. It is recessed in such a way that some trs plugs can't insert far enough to get a full connection.
