Help Headphone Sound Problem

You said it! Mine also does this as well, but there's no way I could go back to using my Droid 1 now until one of the other phones like Prime come out. When they come out I'll cross that bridge when I come to it
 
The high pitch sound I hear is very faint. You really have to listen for it. I recall reading about the iPod 3 having the same problem. Maybe it's poor shielding and/or grounding.
 
Just to let everyone know, I already had an inline control from Radio Shack, and I just turn up the Bionic's volume, then turn down the inline. Works perfectly!
 
Hey Boys and girls,

New to the forum. But I have been experiencing the whining noise too and was able to rectify my problem by changing the settings on the wireless network. I was able to fix my problem by going to "settings" "mobile networks" "network mode" and change it to CDMA.

but the problem presents in the following radio scenarios:

cdma/lte - lte signal
cdma/lte - 3g signal
cdma - 3g signal
AIRPLANE MODE

The sound is not isolated to the headphone jack alone, as Moto has started reporting in their stock apology replies. It is present on the speaker and also via BT. The "noise" is more akin to a component kicking on and off. A split-second before music begins to output, I can hear a small 'click' followed by a hiss. I'm unsure what freq the hiss is without an o-scope. When audio ceases, the hiss continues for anywhere from .5 to 1.5 seconds, then ends with another 'click'.

Moto has said that they can fix this with a software update. To me, it sure does sound like a hardware ground issue or voltage leak into the audio stream during playback, maybe when the DAC is activated. (leaky capacitor, anyone?) If it is S/W, the only cause I can think of would be the integrated sound effects.

By far, the condition is most noticeable in the silence between tracks, when the output for the audio is active but there is no sound. It is not limited to any specific application, but occurs even when the volume rocker is pushed. Any sound emitted is subject to this interference.
 
Lots of good info in this thread. There is also a bit of disagreement as to this or that take on things as posted from member to member. Please allow that info to come through minus any "noise" about one another. ;)

You see, I have tinnitus, the kind so bad that it never goes away and roars like a waterfall.

I guess I can't really contribute here. :D

My heart goes out to you. I used to have a quite severe condition of tinnitus too. Good sound from a device such as being talked about in here would have helped with listening to music I think, but I got rid of the tinnitus before these things came along. But I don't want to hijack the thread with a Lounge subject. ;)
 
my first bionic had this also, but it had the signal problem so I had verizon swapp it out, and my new one has this whine problem its VERY annoying to say the least, but I believe moto said its something being fixed in the enxt ota
 
Retested a plugged in set of headphones and it is clear as well so I have had no issues with plugged in or bluetooth.
 
I don't have a buzzing, I don't have anything as my headphone jack is dead. Didn't work with my car cassette adapter or Shure ear buds. Doesn't even switch off the external speaker. New phone for me too I guess :(
