Help Headphones Screwy

Lurker
For awhile I've had a problem with my droid, where music would pause randomly and if I touched the headphone jack music would either start coming out of one ear or pausing. I have to have the jack turned in the perfect direction to get sound out of both ears. I figured this problem was my headphones were bad, however I bought a new pair which were a pair of generic Samsung Galaxy earbuds and I had the same problem. Also with these I noticed when the music paused, I could put some pressure on the jack and it would start playing again. The original earbuds were some generic iPhone earbuds.

In between getting a new pair I did a factory reset to see if that would fix the problem and I also updated to the new Google Music app from the old default Droid music player.

Is the port faulty or what?

Using a tip I got elswhere, I tried cleaning the port with a cottonswab with Isopropyl Alcohol on the end of a needle. Appears to have worked fairly well, however I still do get static when I rotate the jack and occasionally it will play through one ear. Better than nothing I suppose.
