Help Headset blocker

I'm aware of the issue where the phone mistakenly identifies headphones as a headset, and I've installed the headset blocker app to stop it dialling anyone by accident.

But using the app blocks the functions of the controls on my HTC headphones.

Is there any other way to fix the issue?

Did an update check and it's all uptodate... phone isn't rooted (see no need at the moment), GB 2.3.3 and sense 2.1

If you are using headphones with inline controls, then you don't need Headset Blocker. If you are using two different headsets, one of which doesn't have inline controls, then you can enable and disable Headset Blocker from within its menu. But why would you use two different sets of phones? Presumably you only installed Headset Blocker because you were experiencing problems? I had it installed when I was on earlier versions of Android, but haven't experienced any problems with 2.3.3 and so uninstalled it quite a while ago.
