Root Headset issues

I have a wired headset that plugs into the 3.5mm jack on the phone. I get sound fine through the ear buds, but my microphone isn't working, or at least, I can't find the options to turn it on.

I'm running V24 KaosFroyo, I'm going to post in that thread on XDA, but figured I would run a quick check here.

I'm using Sony's

Have you verified if other headsets work with your phone?

I don't think Android supports much in the way of headphones with mic input. I have the Klipsch S4i and the mic does not work. I can use the buttons to skip tracks, pause/play music however. A lot of these headsets were designed for the iphone.
