Hearing aid compatibility in Wildfire S

I have a HTC Wildfire S as a work mobile and HTC says that it's compatible with hearing aids. I've had a hearing aid since January and this weekend I had a second one fitted and the telecoil programmed in for both of them. The telecoil definitely works because I tried it in a supermarket but on the Wildfire all I get is buzzing. HTC's website says to enable HAC you have to install accessibility apps that seem to be geared around blind and profoundly deaf people without explaining how that's supposed to make it work with a hearing aid.

HTC's phones may be compatible with hearing aids, but they don't write the apps to improve accessibility. I recommend checking with the doctor that fitted your hearing aid to see what they recommend. I'm sure you're not the first to ask.

I also see lots of hear aid apps at Google's Play store.

The hearing aid apps are for Bluetooth hearing aids or simply cranking up the volume beyond what the OS normally allows. Neither of these will help me - I need amplification at certain pitches and my hearing aids don't have Bluetooth. HAC refers to compatibility with induction loop hearing aids.
