Help Heartbleed Bug

Loribee

Newbie
Hi

I have just downloaded the McAfee Heartbleed detector and ran it on my phone. It detected a Heartbleed issue on the operating system on my phone:

The version on my phone is: Operating system version 4.4.2 libssl.so version ( 1.0. 1e)

All it says to do is to see if there is a software update available from my provider. My phone is up to date with automatic updates but other than that I have no idea what to do.

I have had McAfee anti virus software installed on my phone since day one of purchasing my phone.

Should I be concerned and if so what can I do about this please?

Thank you.

Lorraine

That's what Heartbleed is, a bug in OpenSSL, which is what's being implemented by libssl.so. 4.4.3 may address the issue.

But the problem with Heartbleed is when ssl is being used on a server. Unless you have people connecting to your phone, don't worry about it. (And the people at risk are the ones connecting to your phone, not you.)

Also, it's recommended to change your Google account password, as Google was vulnerable to the bug before they addressed and fixed it.

Thank you all for your replies, I appreciate it. I've read the link and will now go and change my passwords.

Many thanks

Lorraine
