Hello all!

I'm new to the forums and to rooting, so hopefully I won't get myself into too much trouble!
Hello and welcome aboard. Thanks for joining the forums.

Read the below info.

"If your ever going to root your device, remember to do your homework before attempting it. The more you know, the more successful you'll be in rooting your device and not bricking it. Bricking is a term used when a phone's software has been tampered with to the point where it is no longer functional and in turn assumes the functionality of a brick."

P.s. Rooting your device will void the warranty.

Thanks Rush,

I had done quite a bit of research previously...several months worth of info, looking through stuff that does and does work. It's definitely hard when the majority of the info is in forums spanning across several sites like this one.

I actually rooted my Droid 2 device a few months back and all went well. But just yesterday I tried to follow CyanogenMod's instructions to flash their ROM and everything went fine up until the post-flash reboot. It got stuck on the red M screen, and now the battery is dead and won't take a charge, and seems effectively bricked.

I've got another one from another family member I can swap batteries with, and I've read the fix involves something called RSD Lite, and sbfs. But I don't know much about either, including how to use them or what to expect from them.

I hope u backed up your phone before performing cyanogenmod flash. I think u can reflash that mod back to your phone if u can get it to turn on in recovery mode. on my phone power button and volume down at the same time puts the phone in recovery mode.
