Hello from the former HTC Aria user

SysAdmNj

Android Enthusiast
Well I've been using the Droid X since the 15th, and I'm not exactly as wow'ed as I thought I would be. Honestly, if I still had my Aria(Just to refresh you guys, I broke the screen after a week I believe) I'm not so sure I would have rushed to get the Droid X. Battery life on the Droid X has been bad for me, almost worse than the Aria. Anyhow, I just spoke with AT&T and they are sending me a new Aria and should be here in a couple of days.

*Warning* What I'm about to say my disturb some......

I'm actually thinking of keeping the Aria I'll receive and returning the Droid X. I'll be honest, I think the Aria was smoother and screen was crisper. Well lets not mention the outdoor screen situation. The other thing is my 3G reception with Verizon hasnt been so much better, and I do miss the voice/data usage at the same time. What else, oh yea, I need money so I think its best I part with the Droid X :D

What do you guys think? And also, there has been some froyo roms released? Thats another thing, the Droid X being locked down is also taken the excitement out.

Really? I'm really glad to her that!
At least you got to try both worlds...
So how does this work? Switching from AT&T to Verizon or do you have both?

I have both, I never ported my number to Verizon. I definitely wanted to be sure I was in love with Verizon and the Droid X before I completely left AT&T. So I'm in my Verizon 30 trial period so when I return it I'll owe $35 for the restocking fee and days of usage which may be around $2/day. The sooner I get my Aria, the quicker I'm going back to Verizon to return the X.

What part of NJ are you in? I'm near the Short Hills Mall area and go up the GSP to Lyndhurst. I've always wanted to know how the signal compares to Verizon.

I'm in Passaic county, but travel alot 287N, sometimes all the way to the Tappanzee. Honestly they are about even for me. I get a strong signal with both carriers. Sometimes Verizon's doesnt seem so strong but I have dropped calls with AT&T. I guess its different for everyone though.

Well... Gonna say sorry to hear that and glad to hear that. Sorry to hear you weren't as impressed with the Droid X as you had hoped and glad to hear you still like the Aria :)

Yeah, attn1 has put out a Froyo ROM but it's not fully functional. No wifi at the moment. I'm gonna flash it soon. I'll report back on it.

Yea, please let me know what you think of it. I should be getting my Aria tomorrow.

Really happy to hear this...it's like a "sleeper." The ford mustang with the 6 cylndr body with the same motor the GT has...minus the 800lbs of spoilers and what-not crap that just weighs the car down...the "stripped down" version is always surpringly kick-ass!

...almost ambarrassingly so!

That's kinda odd. Are you sure you just didn't prefer the size and style? Don't get me wrong, the Aria is great, but I'm not sure how it trumps the X.

My situation is not like everyone elses lol. I never said Aria kicks the X's ass by no means, but I sort of have to keep my Aria and dont mind doing so as its more than capable and fun.
