Hi everybody. Let me first admit that I am not an expert in android apps and only just switching to an android phone... Nevertheless, a good friend of mine has offered me to distribute his app here in UK. I would be extremely grateful if you could direct me to a good UK android app store or at least a store that sells apps to UK customers. (It needs to be, of course, a store that accepts private apps sellers). Many thanks for you advice, Alex.

I'm an app-dev myself, and I've been contacted by quite a few of them, offering to host my app on their site. I've not taken any up on their offers at this point, mostly because of the effort that it would take in managing my apps on so many sites (I'm not really in it to make money at this stage--its more of a hobby for me, so I'm just in the Android Market and the Amazon AppStore).
I'm not aware of any UK-specific app stores, but there are certainly lots of places that might pique your interest if you were to do a Google search of "alternative android markets" or similar (there's too many results to post here and I can't recommend any since I don't have any personal experience with them).
I would also keep in mind that some folks would be a little leery of a non-Android marketplace, so keep in mind the reputation of any site you do end-up selecting to make sure that they are on the up-and-up.
