Hello phandroid!

i have had my droid x for about five months. I love it! I just got the gingerbread OTA update and its great. However, i want to learn more about rooting, unrooting and custom roms. I am a little nervous...i don't need my phone blowing up. i am excited about this forum and getting to know everyone who is an android freak!

It's common knowledge that 75% of rooted phones will blow up at some point so be warned .

Seriously though, I was paranoid when I rooted, but the support and information found on these forums made it so easy, I'm sure you'll find the same.

You might already know this, but there's currently no direct way to root Gingerbread on the Droid X. Root is currently achieved in GB for the X, by either avoiding the GB OTA update (oops! too late, LOL ) or by flashing back to Froyo, rooting with Z4root, installing Droid 2 Bootstrap, booting into ClockworkMod custom recovery, and finally, flashing the pre-rooted two-part .zip files that P3droid provided.
